Features & Specifications

The EyeClops Projector from toymaker Jakks Pacific is a minature digital projector that is compact enough to take with you wherever you may go. The device is designed to be portable, running on on standard D-cell batteries if you choose or can be run by the mains using an AC adaptor plug. The projector has three composite inputs that allow it to connect to a wide range of devices.

The EyeClops Mini Projector In Use

One of the first things you’ll notice about the EyeClops Mini-Projector is it’s size. Designed to be easily portable, this thing is small! Portability alone is nice, but is even nicer if you can use the particular media format that is present, say when you’re round at a friends and play one of his video games. The Jakks EyeClops Projector supports a broad range of modern day devices such as video game consoles and DVD players due to it’s audio/video jacks, making it as flexible as it is portable.

Aimed at kids eight years or older who want to play their favorite video game on a big screen, or to see their favorite movies from the convenience of their room, the Jakks Projector can be pointed at any flat surface including the ceiling. I know I would have found watching TV on the ceiling particularly cool when I was a kid! The Jakks Projector system also features it’s own speakers. These are certainly loud enough to be heard if not home-theater quality.

Brightness is the big week point of the Jakks EyeClops Mini-Projector. In daylight conditions the device performs quite poorly. For a good image, all light sources should be fully covered. When there is too much external light in the room the contrast will be poor and the colors faded and washed out.

The Jakks EyeClops Mini-Projector does a much better job when the lights get switched off. Sure you won’t ever mistake a EyeClops Mini Projector stystem for a fully-blown home theater , but when you consider the device sells for less than fifty dollars and is designed for children, to suggest it is not great value would be unreasonable.

When you consider that the EyeClops Mini Projector has a lot that’s cool about it and is selling at an extremely attractive price, some image issues are excusable. If you go into the purchase, not expecting the home theater quality of a system costing thousands of dollars, you will do just fine. Remember it is sold as a child’s toy.

Summary

The Jakks Projector System is good value and not too expensive for a kid’s toy. I recently saw it for sale on Amazon for less than fifty dollars and it is still in the Top Ten Christmas Toys 2009 list. Considering the coolness and versitility of this toy it’s definitely a value buy.
