Last year we all enjoyed Florida, so that means that this year we are back to Spain.  They are 2 very different holidays.  Whereas Florida is absolutely action packed and really busy, Spain is by contrast a very quiet holiday with days spent lazing around the pool and then venturing out in the evening for a nice meal.

This year is going to be strange as it will be the first time my son hasn’t come on holiday with us.   He has decided that he is going to Florida with his girlfriend!

We will all miss him, especially my teenage daughter.   In previous holidays it wouldn’t be unknown for the two of them to spend their entire days fooling around in the swimming pool.   We always take with us the rubber rings, lilos and splat balls.   Last time I managed to buy a load of water bombs and I will admit we all had great fun with those.

This year it looks like it is upto my husband and I to keep our daughter entertained.    Saying that though I can’t see it being a major problem because my husband turns into the biggest kid of all on holiday!!

Much as I love messing about around the pool, the evenings are the time I love the most.   It gives me a good reason to glam up and wear all the new clothes I have bought for summer.

Usually because of the vast array of restaurants on offer, we have the normal arguments about who wants to eat what and end up wandering around all night trying to decide.

Personally speaking give me a Comida Mexicana restaurant (Mexican to you and I).  My husband loves his steaks, so he is pretty well catered for at any restaurant.   My daughter loves her pizza, but never tries anything other than Margarita!!

The last time we visited Spain we even took advantage of a food delivery service on offer at one of the local Spanish restaurants.   Food delivery in Spanish is known as Comida a domicilio, so watch out for that next time you are on holiday.

Well of course the main danger to this kind of thing is actually the child drowning in one of the hot tubs. There have been nearly a thousand deaths in hot tubs since 1980 due to people drowning and many of these have been children and this has happened because the parents are not paying them any attention.

Getting the hair tangled up doesn’t sound like a problem but it is the second cause for all deaths in the spa. What many kids will actually do is try and compete to see how long they can hold their breath under water and what will happen is that the victims hair will get caught in one of the fittings and sucked in, they will then be unable to pull up which results in death. Many adults will actually get out of this kind of thing because they are strong enough but kids cannot and they really panic until their deaths.

Temperature is next on the list and you must always check the temperature of your hot tub and although the temperature may seem fine to you for your kids it could be too high. The water will not burn them but it could cause them to get a bit drowsy which of course then leads them to fall unconscious and then drown.

It is important to note that if you are thinking of taking a child to Dubai spa holidays or even Europe spa holidays that you must get a note from the doctor saying that they are allowed to go and the same goes for a pregnant lady.

So many kids out there actually love the outdoors but barely get time to get to spend out there which is why my kids jumped at the chance when I told them. We really just made a decision to go on one of those Costa Rica holidays really just because we thought we would have a change.

One of my personal favourite things about a holiday like this one is that there is not really a single piece of technology in site which means it gives the eyes a break certainly for me and the kids anyway. I love my video games as do my kids so getting away to a place like this really did help us all because our eyes were not subject to the usual stuff we see but nature which is a great alternative.

Active holidays are simply a great way to get away from this and as soon as you get out into the country you almost know that you are doing the right thing by staying out there. When you are out in a place like this you get to see the world for what it really is and the wife and I would always try to be up to watch the glorious sun rises.

The kids already want to go back on a trip similar to this one which I am surprised about. I will have to wait until next year as I have promised them a trip to Disney this year.

Not so long ago I did a research in the school I teach asking the kids on what they would like to do on their days off from school. Shockingly they admitted they would love to go on luxury cruises with their family other than doing the same thing over and over again. Some screamed I don’t want to visit my Grand parents this easter break. I didn’t say it, its the kids who are saying it. Then the other question was raised on where they would like to go on a cruise? Many answered that they would like to go on royal Caribbean cruises and few said Holland American line cruises. It is interesting isn’t it I bet you never thought your children would say that but hey they do indeed. I have certainly realized that kids nowadays are far more intelligent than before.

Don’t look at it as a holiday or a fun activity for your children look at it in this way you can bring your family close together. Spending fun times together is a great way of family bonding. Normally these trips also help you learn a lot about eachother which is why it’s great for families.

She thinks that perhaps the reason for them not quite reaching first place is because a lot of the other teams who compete and score well also attend dancing groups, so their dancing skills are absolutely fantastic.

She is going with the train of thought that her group could benefit from some dance lessons and this will hopefully improve their dance skills, and that just might boost their chances at the competitions.

She is also already talking about the possibility of dancing holidays for the group, where they can go away for a weekend and literally learn to dance. She is very much her mother’s daughter and when she gets an idea in her head, she doesn’t let it drop!!

Saying all that though, I do think it sounds like a great idea because their gymnastics and cheerleading are already brilliant, I just think that sometimes their dancing lets them down.

At present the team consist of nearly 40 girls and 1 very brave boy and when they are at their competitions, some of them appear to be a little un-coordinated.

Later this year they already have entered some pretty large competitions, and already they are upping their practice sessions. I think it’s great to see kids actually wanting to do well at their chosen sport and putting so much time and effort in.

I must say that with all the competitions the team enter and the uniforms we have to buy, accommodation costs, travel costs, etc. cheerleading is quite an expensive sport. However my daughter enjoys it so that’s what is important to me.

When you want a holiday to rejuvenate your body and soul, Seefeld is the place to go. The town was designed more than 50 years ago to be a haven of tranquility and up to this day it lives up to that expectation. You will most likely only fully understand what I mean when you are sitting in the town center sipping a hot gluhwein while watching skiers from all across Europe strolling around as if today will last forever.

If you are traveling with your baby, remember that breast feeding in public is no longer socially acceptable in Europe. The best solution is to use an avent breast pump and then store the milk in a container for later use. This way your baby will always have access to mother’s milk, while you don’t have to expose yourself in public.

If you are into all-night parties, Seefeld is not the right place for you. That doesn’t imply that the town has no good restaurants. In fact there are numerous eateries, nearly every single one with a lot of character and ambiance. We once dined at a beautiful little olde worlde restaurant near the town center where a musician played traditional Swiss music on a ibanez acoustic guitar. It was a mellow experience and fitted in perfectly with the laid-back atmosphere of Seefeld.

The gentle ski slopes of Seefeld are not intended for wild skiing adventures either. There are certainly a large number of lifts and gondolas that can take you to a height of as much as 2100m, but Seefeld is more widely known as a cross-country ski venue. In fact, during the winter Olympics of 1964 and 1976 all cross-country skiing events took place in this town.

Should you arrive in Seefeld with no ski equipment, there are a number of small shops where you can purchase decent quality Alpine skiing equipment at a fair price. There are also places renting ski equipment in town. Your decision as to whether you should rent or buy should to a large extent be determined by how frequently you plan to ski.

Seefeld is only a short drive away from Innsbruck to the east and Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany to the north-west. Both these cities are well worth a day trip. The architecture is stunning and the natural surroundings even more so.

In July and August tourists can visit the interior of Iceland. Winter tours can be trickier and need special organization. Skiers will find Iceland as an ideal spot for practicing their skiing skills, and there is also the possibility of ice fishing and touring the glaciers on a snowmobile.

At the end of the season, tournaments are organized all across Iceland.

There are also various sizes and species of whales in the North Atlantic. Whale watching is another big hit with the tourists, and one can choose from quite a few whale watching ports all around the coastline.

Bird watchers are also welcome, because there is no larger birdcliff than Látrabjarg in the West Fjords. A wide variety of cliff nesting species can be watched here, along with the largest razorbill colony in the world. A wide variety of seabirds and the largest puffin population in Iceland can be found in Westman Islands.
